Welcome from the Director of Public Relations
On behalf of the Alpha Zeta chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi at the University of Southern California, I'd like to welcome you to our online recruitment page. My name is Pratima Manga and I have the honor of serving as the chapter's Directors of Public Relations for the Fall of 2018.
“It’s not a matter about what you do, but rather who you do it with.”
During my time in the chapter, I've been lucky to be able to find a home at USC and call the Brothers in the fraternity my family. Whether it's lugging a futon down a flight of stairs at 2AM or running interviews with me at 11PM, the people in AKPsi are willing to set aside their time in order to help you succeed personally and professionally (at literally any hour of the day). Joining USC Alpha Kappa Psi has been one of the best decisions I've made in college, and I hope to give you the chance to experience all that the fraternity has to offer as well.
Fall 2018 applications will be open shortly. In the meantime, I encourage you to stay connected on the Facebook event for more updates about our Fall 2018 recruitment. Suit up and get ready - I'll see you at our events!
Director of Public Relations
To be considered for a bid you must:
- Submit an application on time
- Attend at least 2 of our rush events
- Have 3 semesters left before graduation (including the semester that you pledge)
- Have at least a 3.0 GPA
do i have to be A BUSINESS MAJOR to join alpha kappa psi?
No, students from all majors are welcome and encouraged to apply! Our brothers comprise a wide range of interests, ranging from business to computer science to design.
HOW IS ALPHA KAPPA PSI DIFFERENT FROM OTHER BUSINESS FRATERNITIES?
Alpha Kappa Psi is unique in that we offer greater diversity as well as a range of in-chapter opportunities. Because our Brothers come from all majors and have interest in many industries, we currently have several student run professional groups, including Alpha Zeta Consulting, Alpha Zeta Marketing and Alpha Zeta Investments. In addition, inclusiveness of all majors leads to greater perspective and access to career opportunities.
How Do I Join?
Come out to rush week! This is the easiest way to learn more about our chapter, our brotherhood, and our professional initiatives. After coming to events, you must submit an application on time to be considered for a bid. Please note that the latest you can rush/pledge is the spring semester of your junior year as we require that you have 3 semesters left before graduation (including the semester you spend rushing/pledging).
WHAT KIND OF RUSH CANDIDATES ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?
There is no model for the ideal rush candidate. We recognize an individual's various contributions and skills, and evaluate candidates holistically on the basis of individual merit. Keep in mind that we are not looking for "complete packages" or "cookie cutter" - we are just as much looking for potential that can be further developed through the pledge program.
WHAT does the pledge process entail?
Pledging is a ten-week program that covers everything from professional and organizational skills to softer skills like public speaking and body language. This includes professional workshops, interview and resume preparation, fundraising, and social events. It is similar to training for an actual company in that you will exercise team-building, learn and improve upon professional skills, and have a number of opportunities for leadership. The overall goal is professional development and success in the program is directly related to effort and the ability to adapt in the business world.
IF I DO NOT GET A BID, CAN I RUSH AGAIN?
Yes. We highly encourage any rush candidate who did not receive a bid to rush again (we recruit every semester). Determination and personal refinement are traits we value in rush candidates.
